Free Pattern Review: Spearmint Corset from Mood Fabrics (and more!)

TL; DR – This corset, at least, wasn’t too hard at all!

The daughter was going to her first Renfaire and needed an outfit. We found this gorgeous silky floral print at Joann’s and made the Spearmint Corset from Mood Fabrics and the Freshly Squeezed skirt from Sew Daily (it was free in the magazine as is just measurements to follow). But that didn’t quite work; the skirt was great and the top was great, but not together. So we made a Jasmine skirt out of this coppery knit I had in my stash.

DOESN’T SHE LOOK BEAUTIFUL?!?!?!

The corset was actually pretty simple to make and the directions easy. I decided not to make my own bias tape and used the black pre-made stuff I had. It’s also been a struggle to keep the boning in, but I think that’s just a corset problem, not a pattern problem. Grommets are a bit of a pain, especially when you are trying to cut through four layers of fabric to make a small circle.

Anyway, if you want to try your hand on an easy corset, I would recommend the Spearmint!
