Pattern Review: Ella Dress from Pattern Scout

TL; DR – The quick-make of your DREAMS.

I am testing a pattern (REVIEW COMING SOON!) and I needed something to wear under the garment. I was already behind, so I limited myself to patterns I had already printed and assembled. I bought the Ella Dress from Pattern Scout as soon as it came out, but didn’t yet have a chance/reason to make it, and it was perfect for what I needed.

And then I immediately made another one.

The pattern is made for either being cut on grain or on the bias. I wanted to do a bias right away, but I didn’t have enough of the peach fabric to do it. The pattern also comes with multiple cup sizes, which meant that I didn’t have to worry about doing an FBA. As a result, the fit is PERFECTION. Look at it! It doesn’t look like I’m wearing a sac!

The grey polka-dot version is cut on the bias, and I do like the look and feel of that a lot more, but again, you have to have enough fabric to do so. But seriously. It’s three pieces. I know that I’ve been sewing for many, many months (this is some meme I don’t quite understand), but you could get this done in a day, including cutting and sewing. It’s a perfect beginner pattern, not just because it’s straightforward, but because you’ll put it on as soon as your done and feel GREAT about how it looks.
