Free Pattern Review: Sam Apron

TL; DR – This is a really good apron pattern.

It’s almost Christmas, and I didn’t have a gift yet for my step-dad. My mom let me know that he needed a new apron for cooking and if I had time to make one for him…

I had this leftover denim from the Ludlow I recently sewed, and I thought that it would make a great apron, and I wasn’t wrong. And, lo and behold! Helen’s Closet has a free apron pattern if you sign up for their newsletter. AND, it isn’t one-size fits all! It comes in different sizes and in different heights, which is great because my step-dad is tall!

I really loved the selvedge on this fabric and decided to incorporate it into the ties. I also went with the contrasting thread again, like the jumpsuit. I had enough fabric that I didn’t need to use contrasting fabric for the pockets and/or straps. I think it looks amazing, to be honest, and I hope he likes it when he opens it on Christmas morning!
