TL; DR – Dissosewciating is a thing, and this dress is a part of that for me right now.
There is about to be an onslaught of posts. I bought a bunch of bright and happy prints from Ikea (see the French Dart dress, for starters) and cut a whole lot of patterns with the fabric. I think I was subconsciously getting ready for the election here in the States, combining dopamine dressing with what Cris Wood dubbed on IG, “dissosewciating” (you should check out her ZW patterns!). Sewing instead of doom scrolling. Woot.
I haven’t done any write-ups for any of these patterns because as soon as I’m done one, I’m on to the next dress, dissosewciating. Anyway, I had always wanted to make the Tulip Dress from Sew Different Patterns. And I figured that this print would make a good one (which, it did!). The dress is really straight-forward to make, which is why I made it when I did. I didn’t have to think too hard in order to make it, and even slightly distracted, I didn’t mess it up!
I’ll definitely make it again, but next time I’ll have a true contrasting strip at the bottom.
