Pattern Review: Canterbury Polo by Sew Like

Tl; DR – I have no idea anymore how to tell how long a shirt should be on me. But that isn’t this pattern’s fault. It’s a good one.

I had the opportunity to be a pattern tester for the Canterbury Polo by Sew Like. I don’t do a lot of tops, but I am a sucker for anything with a collar. It was also for woven fabric, which I appreciated since I’ve been slowly minimizing the amount of knits I have since…I don’t really like knits anymore (but I still love you Kielo dress!).

The pattern is really well-drafted, the instructions were great, but I have no idea how to figure out how long to make a pattern. I blame my boobs.

I used this striped linen-like fabric I got from the local buy-nothing group, and then when I found out I needed to lengthen it, I took this grey cotton to do a contrasting band at the bottom, and then used it for the collar and finished the sleeves with a contrast band as well.

I really like how it turned out. The colors say “fall” more than “spring” but I’m definitely going to make it again, except probably a little longer next time!
