Pattern Review: Loie Blouse by TAUKO

TL; DR – This is why I don’t typically use fabric with a directional pattern.

I had the pleasure once again as being a pattern tester for the latest issue of TAUKO magazine. The pattern I chose was the Loie blouse. I don’t know why I keep choosing top patterns when sewing for TAUKO, but I guess it forces me to make something other than dresses. I liked the ease of this blouse, as well as the yoke extending to the front as well as the back.

This fabric was from my Christmas Mood Fabric Mystery Box, and I thought it would make a lovely Loie, which it did OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT THE BIRDS ARE UPSIDE DOWN. The pattern came together really easily, the directions were clear, but apparently I can’t avoid user error.

I especially love the cape sleeve of this. There is an option to add cuffs and just have a dramatic slit, but I chose the cape look. I’ll definitely make this again, but next time, I’ll probably choose a fabric where the direction of the print doesn’t matter lol*sob.
