TL; DR – Shirring is still easy and yet also hard, as well as working with silky fabric.
I was so happy to get to test the Abingdon Dress by Style Patterns. It’s a super-simple dress with shirring at the waist and sleeve cuffs. I made the maxi version (although it has different lengths) with long sleeves out of this silky “moody floral” pattern from Joanne’s.
(Moody floral, according to The Fold Line, is very in this Fall.)
I still struggle with getting a sharp V-neck, but I am super-happy with this dress and pattern. The V isn’t too deep, the constructions is completely straight-forward (one piece front and one piece back!), with fantastic instructions. The shorter versions I saw in the tester FB group were adorable, so I think there will be more of this dress!
Moody floral for fall, indeed!
