TL; DR – It’s shockingly hard to cut straight lines on a grid fabric.
Look, what can I tell you, when big floofy-poofy dresses fall out of fashion, I don’t know what I’m going to do with these Mal Dresses I’m making, but I’ll have LARGE rectangles of fabric to work with.
Gingham is also very in at the moment, and this red one was on sale and come ON, RED GINGHAM. I was going to just make the top tier of the skirt and leave the bottom one off, but then I realized that I HAD NOT cut the rectangle evenly AT ALL and once I had leveled it, it was too short to be worn on it’s own. So it became the bottom tier and I was much more careful when I re-cut the top tier.
At least the sleeves and pockets made sense this time lol*sob.
Still debating if I want to put some elastic in the back to give it a bit more shape. But look at how trendy I am! My daughter even said she might even wear something like this dress!
