Pattern Review: Estelle Dress from Sew Over It

TL; DR – FREAKING KNIT FABRIC.

I had this dress that I called my Joan dress, as in Joan from Mad Men. It was figure-hugging and a deep shade of green. I stopped fitting me, so I let it go, but I haven’t let the idea of that dress go. I have been trying to find green fabric in that exact shade ever since.

I don’t know where I found this knit on sale online, but it was the perfect shade of green. And it turned out to be so freaking soft. I decided that this would be best matched with the Estelle dress pattern from Sew Over It. I love the side-tie detail so much.

The dress came together really easily. The body is only four pieces, with the front main tie grown into the bodice and skirt. I tried to use my stay tape again, but it really didn’t work as well this time. I might have had to use a walking foot? I don’t know, but I have all of these little tucks in the hems, which doesn’t bother me that much, but enough that I’m frustrated.

The other thing is that I can’t quite tie/style it the way they do in all the pictures. HOWEVER, look at how flattering it is, and how good this color looks on me! I’m definitely making this dress again!
